The Westgate Group is poised for further growth following its move this summer to new premises in Aldridge.

Its three businesses – Westgate Stainless & Alloys, Westgate Coil & Processing and Westgate Aluminium Extrusion – have been brought under one roof at Westgate House, Middlemore Lane West.

Joint owner Andrew Hattersley said that following the move from Norton Canes to the new premises, which have been bought, the group was now in the process of taking on extra drivers and sales people.

“We are looking to grow all three businesses. Now we have the space to do that and we are looking to increase the amount of in-house processing that we do as well,” he explained.

Westgate, a leading distributor and processor of stainless steel, had 5,000 sq ft at Norton Canes and the new site, which it moved into on July 18, gives it just under 12,000 sq ft.

“As well as increasing our workforce we are also planning to invest in new equipment including automated saws and further processing equipment for the coil division,” added Mr Hattersley.

He and the other joint owners and directors Gary Mountford and Darren Gould started the original business nine years ago in Aldridge and it moved to Norton Canes after two years.

“We have increased sales and proits each year since we started and managed to maintain growth even through the economic downturn,” added Mr Hattersley.

Westgate Coil & Processing was set up four years ago and Westgate Aluminium Extrusion was formed in June this year.

As well as needing new space for growth the lease on its previous premises expired in June, and the three owners wanted to buy their own premises. They had begun the search for a new home in early 2013.

“Now we have a new headquarters and have made the move the future is looking bright for Westgate Stainless & Alloys Group.

“We will be looking to grow all three businesses and increase sales across the UK. Our customers are mainly in engineering and fabrication and we also sell to the catering, petro-chemical and transport industries,” said Mr Hattersley.
